Introduction:
This month’s vendor feature is so exciting. We were able to get to interview the wonderful Tanya of Tenth and Grace Photography. Tanya is a photographer based in Texas and California but travels all around the world capturing breathtaking destination weddings. Her attention to detail and warm demeanor have us falling in love with her work.
The Interview:
Q: When and how did you get started in the wedding industry?
A: I have been doing photography for six years, but I started my business focusing on portraits. Several years ago, I started getting requests for engagement and anniversary sessions – and that’s when I discovered that I absolutely LOVE working with couples. That naturally led into photographing weddings, which have become my passion! I love everything about weddings and I so enjoy getting to know my couples and spending this special day with them and their families.
Q: How far in advance should a bride request your services?
A: Most of my weddings are booked about 9-12 months in advance.
Q: Who is your ideal client and why do you think client’s choose you over your competition?
A: My ideal clients are romantic, stylish and relaxed. There are so many amazing photographers out there, but I find that my clients really connect with my style and value the consistency and emotion present in my work.
Q: What do you adore most about weddings?
A: Oh, I love everything about weddings! I love all the happiness and joy, and I love getting to know the families and friends of my couples. Most of all, I love the challenge of telling the story of the day and knowing that the images I create will be part of my couples’ stories forever.
Q: How many weddings/clients do you take on a year?
A: I try to limit myself to 15 weddings per year, since I also continue to do some portrait work as well as mentoring other photographers.
Q: What is something you would like clients to know about you that they cannot read on your website?
A: Oh gosh, I’m kind of a dork. Hopefully that doesn’t come across on my website! I definitely don’t take myself too seriously, and I think my clients appreciate my relaxed and easygoing personality.
Q: What advice could you offer to our newly engaged couples?
A: Try to enjoy the wedding planning process as much as possible. I know it can seem overwhelming with the sheer number of decisions that need to be made, but it goes by so quickly! And the same goes for your wedding day – try to take a few minutes to look around and soak it all in.
Q: What is your go to hangout spot in Dallas?
A: I have two young kids, so my “hangout spots” are a lot different than they used to be! We love the Fort Worth Zoo and Dallas Arboretum. In this season of my life, you’ll likely find me in a zoo or a park instead of a bar or restaurant!
Q: And my favorite question to ask: what is your signature cocktail?
A: Mojito!
