Southern Charm: Is it acceptable to propose at someone else’s wedding?

Southern Charm No. 16

The Bride & Groom have spent a little over a year planning this special day only for the attention to be taken away from them by some guest proposing to his girlfriend in the middle of the dance floor. Be honest – how would you react if you were there?

This scenario happens way more often then you would think. And while some are appalled when they see a guy drop to his knee with a ring box in hand mid-reception, others deem it a true romantic gesture.

If you are that guy who insists on proposing on someone else’s wedding day we suggest that you clear it with the couple first. If they are in any way reluctant to give you the okay, then you may want to reconsider. If the couple does happily agree, then make sure to wait until the very end of their wedding to pop the question. That way you do not steal the spotlight away from the newlyweds.

XOXO
